A community-engagement project in Chippenham
Subject name
Donna Rose-Marie Fisher
Age
46
Where do you come from?
Jamaica.
How long have you lived in England?
11 years and four months.
How long have you lived in Chippenham?
The same amount of time.
Where do your family live?
Jamaica, West Indies.
What is your occupation?
I’m a registered nurse at the RUH, Bath.
You may not know this but I am very good at ...
cooking, especially the national dishes of my
home country.
You may not know this but I am no good at ...
singing, whether it’s pop or opera, I’m no good!
The living person I admire ...
is my mother.
I admire her because ...
she made a lot of sacrifices for us growing up.
The best thing anyone said to me ...
‘I love you’. Whoever says it; child, family,
friends, it’s the greatest thing.
I wish I had never given up ...
I have no regrets. You can’t say what your life
would be like because you might not have the life
you have today.
My favourite bit of Chippenham ...
is Bowood because there is a little waterfall there
that reminds me of Dunn’s River in Jamaica.
Chippenham would be the perfect place to live if ...
it was warm!

Every day, for the duration of the exhibition at the Yelde Hall, I will post a new Hidden Presence interview. Please come back to find out about some of the people who represent the diversity of Chippenham.
Hidden Presence is a joint arts and heritage project partnered by:
Chippenham Museum
Wiltshire County Council
Pound arts centre
PLaCE, University of the West of England
These are projects and ideas that are currently in development.
These projects form the body of my work to date.
Our community is diverse and enriched by people from foreign cultures settling among us. The aim of Hidden Presence is to acknowledge the diversity of our community, and our similarities with people from all over the world.
