A community-engagement project in Chippenham
Subject name
Melvin Ramos
Age
43
Where do you come from?
The city of Quezon, Philippines.
How long have you lived in England?
More than 10 years.
How long have you lived in Chippenham?
Almost five years.
Where do your family live?
They live in the Philippines.
What is your occupation?
I work as a Senior Support Worker.
It might be fashionable but I don’t like ...
wearing sunglasses.
When I have time to myself I ...
like going shopping or just staying in my bed watching a DVD of my favourite TV shows.
My proudest achievement ...
is when I won the Best Carer at the Wales Care Awards in October 2009.
Something that changed my life ...
when I had the opportunity of staying and working in England.
My happiest memory ...
when I fell in love again.
The last time I cried ...
was leaving my parents in the Philippines.
My favourite bit of Chippenham ...
is in the tiny town with a quiet and peaceful environment.
Chippenham would be the perfect place to live if ...
we had bigger shops and more job opportunities.

Every day, for the duration of the exhibition at the Yelde Hall, I will post a new Hidden Presence interview. Please come back to find out about some of the people who represent the diversity of Chippenham.
Hidden Presence is a joint arts and heritage project partnered by:
Chippenham Museum
Wiltshire County Council
Pound arts centre
PLaCE, University of the West of England
These are projects and ideas that are currently in development.
These projects form the body of my work to date.
Our community is diverse and enriched by people from foreign cultures settling among us. The aim of Hidden Presence is to acknowledge the diversity of our community, and our similarities with people from all over the world.
