The book I'm reading currently
I read continually British history books, recent history, with reference to the military aspect, being an ex-military man. And transport, a fascination for the history of trains and aircraft.

A book that had a big impact on me
A book I've been recently reading because I had a certain amount of depression was called Mindfulness, Mark Williams and Danny Penman. Which has nothing to do with transport or history.

My desert island reading
It certainly wouldn't be religious. I can tell you what I wouldn't take.

My choice of lifetime magazine subscription
Most likely FlyPast, it's about historic military aircraft mainly.

My must-see film
There's a lot of them in fact. Enigma is my favourite film.

My guilty-pleasure telly
Police Interceptors, it's on Channel 5, it's on Channel 17 continuously. My wife thoroughly enjoys it and we sit together and watch it.

My radio turn-on and turn-off
I don't listen to a lot of radio. I suppose I listen snatchingly to Steve Wright in the afternoon, call it guilty listening, I should be doing something else.

My favourite work of art
I keep on my computer a great selection of art of the wars. The old sailing ships, a fascination for the Napoleonic war sailing ships. I prefer a painting to a photograph of a train, a car, an aeroplane.

The weekend paper I am most likely to pick up
The Telegraph or The Express. I've won twice on The Telegraph crossword.

The section of the weekend paper I read first
I would go through it. What I wouldn't read is the sport. I'm totally unsporting.

A piece of music that makes me smile
Three wheels on my wagon, a western song that is really silly.

A piece of music that makes me cry
Some of Beethoven's stuff makes me quite wistful I also listen to Elgar's Enigma Variations.
